Spin fishermen can enjoy casting
stickbaits, plugs and spinners as well as drifting live shiners with custom
St. Croix rods and Shimano reels.
Also, when conditions are right the west coast technique of
backtrolling kwikfish is a producer. |
|
Fly fishing is productive year round as
long as the river levels are conducive.
Swinging and dead drifting large streamers and stimulator patterns
near the bottom produces strong takes from these large stream bred fish. |
|
Summer
and Winter offer different opportunities and unique adventures on the
river. Generally, the fishing for chunky rainbows is more productive in the
summer, along with a mixed bag of smallmouth bass and the occasional
walleye. Winter
offers excellent opportunitiesfor large browns. One of the most productive
times on the river for large brown trout is directly after the spawn in
December through the Winter months until the days become long and the water
warms in early June and many of the large browns become nocturnal. If you’re feeling the winter blues come
check out the Allegheny River in the Winter. It is a big fish factory. |
